We're a referral website
Wollongong Bathroom Renovations doesn't do building, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tiling or asbestos removal work itself. Enquiries through this site are passed to the licensed builder we work in partnership with.
The builder
Renovation work is carried out in partnership with Coastal Renovation Group, a licensed NSW builder. Licence and insurance details are provided on request.
Look the licence up on the NSW Fair Trading public register before any work starts, and ask for a current certificate of insurance. The register shows the holder, class, status, expiry and any disciplinary action.
The builder gives you the quote, signs the contract with you, does the work and is responsible for it. Any workmanship warranty comes from the builder, and so does any home building compensation cover the law requires.
What we don't promise
We don't claim that any contractor other than the builder named above holds a particular licence, insurance or accreditation, and we don't keep tabs on insurance over time. Check the paperwork yourself.
Asbestos
Lots of Illawarra homes were built with fibro, and some of it contains asbestos. We don't remove asbestos, and a builder's licence isn't an asbestos removal licence. Removal is done by a licensed asbestos removalist under NSW rules. If anyone suggests ripping out a pre-1990 bathroom without testing first, get another opinion.
Approvals, rentals and funding
The builder can tell you what's usually needed for strata approval, council or certifier approval, heritage items or bushfire-prone sites. The decision belongs to your owners corporation, Wollongong City Council or a certifier. Information about rental minimum standards and home modification funding is general, and landlords and funding recipients should confirm current requirements with NSW Fair Trading or the funding body. Nobody on this site can guarantee an approval or how long it'll take.
What's behind the tiles
Rot, termites and failed pipes can't be confirmed until the room's opened up. Quotes deal with this through stated allowances and a variation method.
